Cadurci (Cahors region)

(Second - first century BC)

The Cadurques, after the creation of the province of Narbonne were closest neighbors Volques and Tolosates. Their territory extended on the current department of Lot and the Tarn-et-Garonne, within the old province of Quercy Cahors capital. They were surrounded by the Arverni and Gabales, Ruteni and Nitiobroges. They make a grand entrance during the Gallic Wars and cited several times by Caesar. They joined the coalition Vercingetorix, and at his request, attacked (with Ruteni), the Arécomiques Volques remained faithful to the Romans. The Cadurcan chief Luctérios, managed to unite the Gabales and Nitiobroges to besiege Narbonne. Caesar warned, made clear the capital of the Province. Cadurques participated in the quota of 35,000 men to rescue Arvernes Alesia Besieged. After the defeat and surrender of Vercingetorix, Luctérios participated again in the following year 51 BC, to the defense of the oppidum of Uxellodunum (Puy-d'Issolu in Lot). Sources: Caesar (Bg.
