CABELLIO - CAVAILLON
(1st century BC)
Cabellio was founded by Marcus Æmilius Lepidus (Lepidus) between 44 and 42 BC when he was governor of Gaul Narbonne. Lépide joined his forces in Gaul with those of Marc-Antoine on May 29, 43 BC. He formed with Octave and Marc-Antoine the second Triumvirate. Coinage began between 40 and 30 BC. The city may have received the "jus latinum" from Augustus in 23 BC..
