Philippe de Rouvres, grandson of Duke Eudes IV, succeeded his grandfather in April 1349 when he was still a minor. The regency was entrusted to Jeanne de Bourgogne, her great-aunt who died in December 1349. A second period of regency began under her mother, Jeanne de Boulogne, wife of Jean de Normandie, future king of France under the name of Jean He says the Good.
