Exemplaire sur un petit flan parfaitement centré au droit avec le grènetis visible au droit, court au revers sur le trépied. Très joli droit où les plumes de l’aile de l’aigle sont parfaitement visibles. Revers de haut relief, bien venu à la frappe, court sur la base du trépied avec le début de cassure de coin visible au revers. Patine grise de collection avec des reflets dorés

Commentary
Exemplaire très agréable. Mêmes coins que l’exemplaire de l’American Numismatic Society (ANS. n° 369). Même coin de droit que l’exemplaire de l’American Numismatic Society (ANS. n° 370). Cassure de coin importante au revers, dans le champ à gauche sur l’ethnique. Les auteurs du HN Italy sont les seuls à signaler que l’aigle a les serres refermées sur un lièvre (HN Italy n° 2175, p. 172). Semble beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux.

BRUTTIUM - CROTON
(4th-3rd century BC)
Crotone is an Achaean colony founded in 710 BC Under the leadership of Milon, the Crotoniates captured Sybaris and destroyed it. In the following century, following internal struggles, the city declined before falling into the hands of Dionysius of Syracuse in 378 BC, then Agathokles in 296 BC and finally between those of Pyrrhus in 277 BCE. It was conquered by the Romans during the Second Punic War after the Battle of Cannae in 216 BC.
