Commentary


Cette monnaie correspond exactement au B. 951, avec le même type de tête et une croix ancrée très élancée.
L’attribution de Brionnvs Vicvs est sujette à discussion, avec divers propositions ; Brionne ou Briosne (?) pour Combrouse, Pays de la Brenne pour De Reichell, Brienne-le-Chateau pour Du Chalais ou Brion pour Fillon et Prou.

The village of Brion has been occupied since Gallo-Roman times. The city is at least cited at the very beginning of the 10th century. On the basis of BRIONNO epigraphy, some Merovingian trians are attributed to him.
