Commentary

Feuardent précise que Guillaume de Beaune, seigneur de Semblançay, pour qui fut frappé ce jeton, était maître des comptes à Nantes en 1492. La page de Wikipédia sur la famille http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacques_de_Beaune raconte des aventures tragiques.
Notons que Feuardent indique aussi “Ce beau et rare jeton est troué à l’angle de l’écu”, comme le nôtre qui a donc été moulé sur le sien.
Au XIXe siècle quand un jeton ou une monnaie était tellement rare que tout espoir d’en trouver un devait être abandonné, il était fréquent de mouler un exemplaire.
