Ce gros est frappé sur un flan large et légèrement voilé. En dépit de quelques faiblesses de frappe, reliefs nets, surtout au revers. Exemplaire présentant de petites taches et semblant avoir été nettoyé anciennement. D’infimes rayures au droit

BRITAIN - Duchy of Brittany - FRANCOIS II

(1458-1488)

Francis II (1435-1488) is the grand-son of John IV. He succeeds Arthur III (1457-1458) and subsequently paid homage to Charles VII in 1459, and Louis XI in 1461. It is part of the League public good fight Louis in 1465, then made peace with the king 23 December 1465. For the next twelve years, he wavers between the King of France, Duke of Burgundy Charles the Bold and tries to ally with King Edward IV of England to maintain Breton independence. He is reconciled with the king in 1475, then in 1477 after the death of Charles to Nancy. After the death of Louis XI, it supports the Duke of Orleans against the Beaujeu in the regency of Charles VIII. He formed a league against France December 13, 1486. The French invaded Britain and laid siege to Nantes. François is definitely beaten St. Aubin de Cormier July 28, 1488. He died of grief in September, leaving two daughters, Anne and Isabeau.
