Coin bouché au droit. Revers de qualité, bien frappé, mais légèrement décentré. Une légère fissure est à noter, visible eu droit à 5 heures, et au revers, sur le sabot avant droit du cheval

Reverse description : Cheval à droite, sur une ligne d'exergue ; un globule entre les jambes ; le bout ondulé d'un motif décoratif au-dessus de la croupe.

Commentary

Au revers, cet exemplaire a la particularité d'avoir la ligne d'exergue qui se confond avec le bord du coin.

BRITTANY - CATUVELLAUNI

(1st century BC)

The Catuvellauni occupied the counties of Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Huntingdonshire and Cambridge with parts of Essex, Oxfordshire and Suffolk. The Catuvellauni seem to have been a small military tribe dependent on the Atrebates and Regni. Cassivellaune was the leader of the Catuvellauni and organized the fight against the Romans in 54 BC. He treated with Caesar, agreed to pay an annual tribute and is cited in the Gallic Wars (V, 11, 18, 19, 20 , 21 and 22).
