Commentary

Cette scène d'artisanat est exceptionnelle et particulièrement intéressante ! Aucune scène de ce genre ne figure sur les monnaies gauloises de Gaule, alors que ce genre d'iconographie est "typique" du monnayage anglais.
This craft scene is exceptional and particularly interesting! No scene of this kind appears on Gallic coins from Gaul, while this type of iconography is \\\"typical\\\" of English coinage.

Historical background

BRITTANY - CATUVELLAUNI and TRINOVANTES

(1st century BC)

Addedomaros, king

The Trinovantes or Trinobantes were in the territory of the counties of Suffolk and Essex. These coins were certainly minted at Camulodunum by this people who had already supported Caesar during the expedition of 54 BC. Addedomarus lost his capital for a short time to Tasciovanus. Emissions with the sun or the palm evoke this reconquest.
