Commentary
Alberto Santos-Dumont (1873-1932) est un pionnier brésilien de l’aviation. C’est à Paris qu’il s’intéresse à l’aérostation, puis aux ballons dirigeables tant au niveau de la conception que du pilotage. Puis à partir de 1904, il s’intéresse aux avions. En 1910, suite à un accident, il abandonne l’aviation. Malade, il rentre définitivement au Brésil en 1928 où il est acclamé comme un héros.
Alberto Santos-Dumont (1873-1932) was a Brazilian aviation pioneer. It was in Paris that he became interested in ballooning, then in dirigible balloons, both in terms of design and piloting. Then, from 1904, he became interested in airplanes. In 1910, following an accident, he abandoned aviation. Ill, he returned permanently to Brazil in 1928, where he was hailed as a hero.
