Marie a succédé à Joseph Ier en 1777. Pierre III, son mari, lui est associé jusqu'en 1786, date de sa mort. Marie règne jusqu'en 1805, mais, en fait, le prince Jean est régent à partir de 1799 et le restera jusqu'en 1818.

Mary of Portugal succeeded Joseph I in 1777. Peter III, her husband, was associated with her until 1786, the date of his death. Mary reigned until 1805, but, in fact, Prince John was regent from 1799 and remained so until 1818.
