Le seul élément de datation que nous ayons pour ce jeton est la signature du graveur, en l'occurrence N. R. pour Norbert Röettiers qui est graveur général à partir de 1703. Suivant les auteurs, ce jeton est daté de 1707 (Florange) à 1713 (Feuardent). Pierre Grassin est baron d'Arcis et Dieuville-sur-Aube, seigneur de Mormant, directeur général des Monnaies de France. Sa famille aurait été originaire de Sens d'après J. Florange. Sa femme est Charlotte Dupuy d'Igny
Les jetons avec bustes de personnes autres que les membres de la famille royale sont évidement de toute rareté, le coût de gravure des coins étant à l’époque, comme aujourd’hui, prohibitif.
