Commentary

En 1676, Étienne de La Mare avait été, comme son aïeul, quatre fois élu maire. C’est alors que la mort le surprit, et l’année suivante son fils Jean-Baptiste de La Mare lui succéda.
In 1676, Étienne de La Mare had been, like his grandfather, elected mayor four times. It was then that death surprised him, and the following year his son Jean-Baptiste de La Mare succeeded him.
