Ce denier est frappé sur un flan large et irrégulier. Quelques motifs du revers apparaissent en négatif au droit. Exemplaire recouvert d’une patine grise de médaillier

Commentary


Cette très rare monnaie, s’inspire des monnaies de Langres, dont elle reprend notamment la croisette fichée dans le champ du droit. Seuls quelques exemplaires sont connus et elle manque très souvent aux plus grandes collections. Hugues Ier ne fut duc de Bourgogne que pendant trois ans et ce denier inaugure le monnayage féodale de ce duché.
This very rare coin is inspired by the coins of Langres, from which it notably reproduces the cross placed in the field of law. Only a few examples are known and it is very often missing from the largest collections. Hugh I was Duke of Burgundy for only three years and this coin inaugurated the feudal coinage of this duchy
