Historical background

BOSPORUS - KINGDOM OF CIMMERIAN BOSPORUS - RESKOUPORIS V

(304-342)

Rheskuporis V and Constantine I

After the disappearance of the kingdom of Pontus of Mithridates VI in 63 BC, part of the Bosphorus was erected into a kingdom, first for the benefit of Asandre (47-17 BC), then of Polemon II (38-64). The kingdom lasted until the middle of the 4th century with Reskouporis V (304-342) who seems to have shared it with Rhadamsades (309-323).
