Commentary
Philippe III de Croy est le quatrième prince de Chimay entre 1551 et 1595. Il épouse le 1er mai 1582, en secondes noces, Jeanne de Blois-Treslon (décédée en 1605). Jeanne est la fille aînée de Louis de Blois, seigneur de Trélon, et de dame Charlotte de Humières. Jeanne de Blois était veuve de Philippe de Lannoy, seigneur de Beauvais, amiral de vaisseau.
Philippe III de Croy possède de nombreux territoires notamment le duché d'Arschot, la principauté de Château-Porcien, les comtés de Beaumont et de Seninghem, les seigneuries d'Avesnes, Lillers, Quiévrain, Esclaibes, Beveren, les terres franches de Fumay et Revin.
Sur Jeanne de Blois, voilà ce que dit Van Loon, Histoire métallique des Pays-Bas, Tome I, p. 93 : "La seconde femme de notre Philippe, second Duc d'Arfchot, qu'il épousa après la mort de Jeanne de Halewin arrivée l'an 1581, fut Jeanne de Blois, fille de Louis Seigneur de Treflon & de Charlotte d'Humieres. C'est à la stérilité de cette Dame, & aux autres raisons que nous venons d'alléguer, que la Maison d'Aremberg doit des Seigneuries si considerables..".

Philippe III de Croy owned many territories, including the Duchy of Arschot, the Principality of Château-Porcien, the counties of Beaumont and Seninghem, the lordships of Avesnes, Lillers, Quiévrain, Esclaibes, Beveren, and the freeholds of Fumay and Revin. On Jeanne de Blois, this is what Van Loon says, Histoire métallique des Pays-Bas, Tome I, p. 93: \\\"The second wife of our Philippe, second Duke of Arfchot, whom he married after the death of Jeanne de Halewin in 1581, was Jeanne de Blois, daughter of Louis Seigneur de Treflon and Charlotte d'Humieres. Historical background
BLOIS AND THE BLAISOIS - GENTRY AND TOWNS
The town of Blois was in the 9th century, the seat of the county of Robert le Fort. Thibaut de Chartres seized it during the reign of Charles the Simple and the county remained with his descendants until 1391, when the county was sold to Louis I of France, Duke of Orléans. His grandson, Louis XII, ascending the throne, unites the county to the Crown. Favorite residence of the Valois, its castle was rebuilt and enlarged during the 16th and 17th centuries. The States-General were held there in 1576 and 1588, famous for the assassination of the Duke of Guise. The government took refuge there in 1814. Blois is today the capital of the department of Loir-et-Cher.
