Exemplaire sur un flan extrêmement large, ovale et irrégulier, parfaitement centré des deux côtés. Portrait magnifique, de haut relief, presque animé. Joli revers de style fin, bien venu à la frappe. Belle patine de collection ancienne avec des reflets dorés. Conserve une partie de son brillant de frappe

Reverse description : Zeus Stratios nu jusqu’à la ceinture, barbu debout à gauche, tenant un sceptre long de main gauche et couronnant le nom de Prusias de la main droite ; dans le champ à gauche, un petit aigle debout à gauche sur un foudre et au-dessous, un monogramme.

Commentary
Mêmes coins que l’exemplaire de la vente CNG. 76 (2007), n° 671. Début de cassure de coin caractéristique sous le menton qui rejoint le cou.

(185-149 BC)
Prusias II is the son of Prusias I (228-185 BC), king of Bithynia and the grandson of Philip V of Macedonia by his mother. Hannibal had taken refuge in Nicomedia with his father. For fear of being delivered to the Romans by Prusias II, the Carthaginian poisoned himself in 183 BC. ). Prusias II had to give up part of his territory to the King of Pergamon. He tried to ally himself with the Romans and, in the face of such cowardice, was finally assassinated in the temple of Zeus in Nicomedia by the mob.
