Revers de haut relief, finement détaillé. Magnifique patine de médaillier avec des reflets dorés et bleutés

Reverse description : Athéna nicéphore assise à gauche sur un trône, tenant une petite Niké de la main droite qui couronne le nom de Lysimaque, le coude gauche reposant sur un bouclier orné d'un masque de lion ; dans le champ à gauche, une massue posée verticalement ; à l'exergue, un arc dans son goryte.

Commentary

Au revers le premier monogramme semble regravé. Dans l’ouvrage de L. Müller, ce type n’est pas complètement décrit (M. 409-419) et est attribué à l’atelier d’Erythrées en Ionie. C’est une variante entre les numéros 411-412 et 416 var..

The coinage of Lysimachus did not stop with the death of the King in 281 BC but continued to be minted in Thrace and in the workshops of the Black Sea until the 1st century BC. Kios , the great port of the Propontis, an important commercial place, open to Asia Minor and Phrygia, already royal workshop of Lysimachus, continued to generate money after the death of the monarch.
