Bronze très intéressant, avec des types bien venus mais sur un flan un peu court avec une frappe un peu décentrée. Patine verte foncé et poreuse

Reverse description : Cheval libre galopant à droite ; un aigle posé sur la croupe, les ailes déployées.
Commentary
Ce bronze, avec un bouclier au droit et un aigle avec les ailes déployées posé sur la croupe du cheval au revers, semble complètement inédit. Issus des mêmes coins de droit et de revers que le bga_380812, ces deux bronzes centrés différemment se complètent ; l’un avec l’aigle bien net et l’autre avec le sanglier visible entre les jambes du cheval.
L’oiseau ou l’aigle est bien attesté sur cette série, sous ou au-dessus du cheval, mais jamais de ce style. Habituellement, l’oiseau correspond à celui des bronzes ambiens DT. 356.
Sur notre bronze, il correspond plutôt dans sa position à celui du bronze PIXTILOS à l’oiseau dans le temple ou des semis léxoviens. Le bouclier est lui aussi à rechercher sur d’autres bronzes tels que le DT. 564 ou sur le statère suession....
This bronze, with a shield on the obverse and an eagle with outstretched wings resting on the horse's rump on the reverse, seems completely new. Coming from the same obverse and reverse dies as bga_380812, these two differently centered bronzes complement each other; one with the eagle clearly visible and the other with the boar visible between the horse's legs. The bird or eagle is well attested on this series, under or above the horse, but never in this style. Usually, the bird corresponds to that of the Ambian bronzes DT. 356. On our bronze, its position corresponds rather to that of the bronze PIXTILOS with the bird in the temple or of the Lexovian semi-precious stones. GALLIA BELGICA - BELLOVACI (Area of Beauvais)
(2nd - 1st century BC)
The Bellovaques, people of Belgian Gaul, occupied the current department of Oise. Their neighbors were the Parisii, the Véliocasses, the Calètes, the Ambiens and the Suessions.. Caesar (BG. VII. 59) considers the Bellovaci as the "most valiant people in all of Gaul". Before the Gallic Wars, the Bellovaci had been allies of the Aedui. In 57 BC. -VS. , they were the architects of the uprising of the Belgian peoples, provided a contingent of sixty thousand warriors to the coalition, but were defeated and found refuge on their oppidum of Bratuspantium. In 52 BC. -VS. , they had promised a contingent of ten thousand men for the relief army. They recanted, claiming to fight the Romans alone. Finally, at the prayer of Commius, they gave two thousand men to the coalition. The following year, in 51 BC. -VS. , they took for the last time the head of a revolt of the Belgian people. Corréos, Bellovaque chief, led the sedition in order to fight the Romans with the Atrébates, the Ambiens, the Aulerques Éburovices, the Calètes and the Véliocasses. With the atrebate Commios, Correos met the Roman armies on the borders of the Bellovaci and Suession countries.. Correos was killed, which put an end to hostilities definitively.. The main oppidum of the Bellovaci was Bratuspantium which is difficult to identify with certainty with the Roman city of Caesaromagus (Beauvais). Caesar. (BG.
