8ème pièce de 2 Euro commémorative de la Belgique.
Le thème retenu par la Monnaie Royale de Belgique pour 2011 est le centième anniversaire de la Journée internationale des droits des femmes. Instituée par l’ONU en 1977, elle est célébrée le 8 mars.
Pour illustrer le combat des femmes pour l’égalité des droits, la Monnaie Royale de Belgique a choisi deux femmes illustres: Isala Van Diest, première femme médecin de Belgique et première universitaire. Elle fondit avec Marie Popelin, première femme belge docteur en droit, la Ligue belge du droit des femmes.

8th commemorative 2 Euro coin from Belgium. The theme chosen by the Royal Mint of Belgium for 2011 is the hundredth anniversary of International Women's Day. Established by the UN in 1977, it is celebrated on March 8. To illustrate women's struggle for equal rights, the Royal Mint of Belgium has chosen two illustrious women: Isala Van Diest, Belgium's first female doctor and first academic. She founded the Belgian Women's Rights League with Marie Popelin, the first Belgian woman to receive a doctorate in law.
