Commentary
Médaillon émaillé au centre d’une croix émaillée blanche à quatre branches bouletées, sur une couronne de laurier émaillé vert. Attache en forme de couronne sommé d’un globe crucifère.
Dimensions de la croix : 14,5 mm, avec la couronne : 24,5 mm.
Sur l’anneau de suspension, figure deux poinçons : losange + crabe.
La décoration est rangée dans une petite boîte cartonnée grise de chez P. de Greef (112 rue du midi, BRUXELLES).
Enameled medallion in the center of a white enameled cross with four rounded branches, on a green enameled laurel wreath. Attachment in the form of a crown topped with a cruciform globe. Dimensions of the cross: 14.5 mm, with the crown: 24.5 mm. On the suspension ring, there are two hallmarks: diamond + crab. The decoration is stored in a small gray cardboard box from P. de Greef (112 rue du midi, BRUSSELS)

Leopold II (9/04/1835-17/12/1909) is the eldest son of Leopold I and Louise d'Orléans. He married Marie-Henriette, Archduchess of Austria, who bore him three daughters: Louise, Stéphanie, and Clémentine. He relied on England to repel the aims of Napoleon III in 1866-1869. His reign was marked by the economic and industrial development of Belgium, which also became a great colonial power thanks to the personal annexation of the Congo by the king at the Congress of Berlin in 1885. Without a male heir, his nephew Albert I succeeded him. in 1909. He bequeathed the Congo to Belgium in 1908.
