Historical background

BELGIUM - NAMUR - MAXIMILIAN-EMMANUEL OF BAVARIA

(1711-1714)

Maximilian Emmanuel of Bavaria is governor of the Netherlands under Charles II. He chose the side of Philip V during the War of Spanish Succession. At the beginning of 1712, King Louis XIV of France ceded the last scrap of the Spanish Netherlands to Maximilian Emmanuel of Bavaria. During the peace negotiations of 1713, the Netherlands were awarded to Charles of Austria, but Maximilian Emmanuel kept his provinces of Namur and Luxembourg, which he still held, as long as his Germanic states were not evacuated by Austrian troops. What happens after the Peace of Rastadt in 1714..
