Banque portugaise d’investissement (BPI) est une banque privée du Portugal. En Octobre 1996, avec l'acquisition de Banco de Fomento e Exterior (BFE) et Banco Borges & Irmão (BBI), a commencé le processus d'intégration des trois banques BPI Group, qui a culminé en Juillet 1998 création de la Banque d' investissement portugais. Grâce à cette fusion , la banque possède maintenant le plus grand réseau de compteurs de marque unique au Portugal, après avoir été également repris à la fin de cette année, la Banque Univers , une banque en magasin. [ 12 ].

Until the middle of the 19th century, there were only private banks intended for large fortunes like the Rothschilds. They then took the name of investment banks such as the Banque de Paris et des Pays-Bas, the Union Générale, etc. The development of the activity, born of the Industrial Revolution, caused the creation of banks of a new type, for all, called deposit banks.
