La Banque de Paris & des Pays-Bas est fondée à Paris en 1872 et fonctionne essentiellement comme banque d’affaires. Cette banque existe toujours sous le nom plus moderne de BNP-Paribas.

BANKS - CREDIT INSTITUTIONS

Until the mid-nineteenth century, there were only private banks for the great fortunes like Rothschild. They then took the name of banks such as Bank of Paris and the Netherlands, the General Union, etc. .. The development of the activity, born of the Industrial Revolution led to the creation of a bank new type for all known deposit banks. The first was the counter discount founded in 1853. Other institutions followed: Crédit Industriel et Commercial, Crédit Lyonnais (1863), Société Générale, etc...
