Statère de billon sur un flan ébréché en plusieurs endroits sur la tranche. Les types sont néanmoins complets et assez bien venus. Patine grise et granuleuse

Obverse description : Tête humaine à droite, les cheveux en grosses mèches ; un sanglier enseigne et un cordon perlé dans la chevelure.

Reverse description : Cheval androcéphale galopant à droite ; un sanglier à droite, entre les jambes du cheval ; au-dessus du dos, l'aurige tenant le vexillum devant la tête du cheval.
Commentary
Le Numéraire celtique n’est pas pertinent sur ce monnayage ; le type 9 est représenté par les deux dessins du LA TOUR, de style figuratif... et par la photographie d’un exemplaire stylisé (provenant de la vente Vinchon du 25 mai 1998). Au total, tout confondus G. Depeyrot répertorie 120 exemplaires (en argent) et 81 autres sous la série 12 (en billon) ; cette distinction nous semble très subjective alors que la distinction typologique entre profil de style figuratif et géométrique est plus pertinente !.

The Baïocasses or Bodiocasses are not mentioned in Caesar's Gallic Wars. It is Pliny the Elder who speaks of it first. The Baiocasses occupied part of present-day Normandy, the Bessin. Their neighbors were the Unelles, the Viducasses and the Véliocasses. Their main oppidum was Augustodurum (Bayeux). Pliny (HN. IV, 107). Ptolemy (G. II, 8).
