Commentary

Portrait complet de “style figuratif” avec le petit sanglier enseigne dans la chevelure. Cet avers est très proche du bga_423244. Au revers, le cheval est androcéphale et conduit par un aurige complet sur cet exemplaire..
A full-length portrait in a “figurative style” with the small boar ensign in its hair. This obverse is very similar to bga_423244. On the reverse, the horse is androcephalic and led by a full-length charioteer in this example.

(2nd - 1st century BC)

The Baïocasses or Bodiocasses are not mentioned in Caesar's Gallic Wars. It is Pliny the Elder who speaks of it first. The Baiocasses occupied part of present-day Normandy, the Bessin. Their neighbors were the Unelles, the Viducasses and the Véliocasses. Their main oppidum was Augustodurum (Bayeux). Pliny (HN. IV, 107). Ptolemy (G. II, 8).
