Obverse description : Tête humaine à gauche, les cheveux en grosses mèches enroulées ; l'œil de face ; le cou perlé et des ornements sur la joue ; grènetis autour.

Reverse description : Cheval galopant à gauche ; un sanglier enseigne au-dessus du dos ; un annelet perlé entre les jambes et des annelets dans le champ ; une ligne chevronnée devant le cheval et une autre concentrique au grènetis.

GALLIA - BAÏOCASSES (Area of Bayeux)

(2nd - 1st century BC)

The Baïocasses or Bodiocasses are not mentioned in Caesar's Gallic Wars. It is Pliny the Elder who speaks of it first. The Baiocasses occupied part of present-day Normandy, the Bessin. Their neighbors were the Unelles, the Viducasses and the Véliocasses. Their main oppidum was Augustodurum (Bayeux). Pliny (HN. IV, 107). Ptolemy (G. II, 8).
