Exemplaire sur un flan épais et irrégulier bien centré des deux côtés avec les grènetis visibles. Joli droit bien venu à la frappe. Revers de style fin. Belle patine de médaillier avec des reflets mordorés

Commentary


Exemplaire sans marque au droit de poids attique avec un delta au revers. Lion avec la queue ondulée. Ce type semble plus rare.

BABYLONIA - BABYLON

(331-306 BC)

Alexander III seized Babylon in 331 BC. He then named Mazaios, a former satrap of Cilicia between 361 and 334 BC, who had rallied to the conqueror, as satrap of Babylonia. Mazaios died in 328 BC and was then replaced by Stamenes between 328 and 323 BC, then by Archon between 323 and 321 BC. Seleucus became a satrap from 321 BC. When the latter was expelled from Babylon, he was replaced by Peithon in the name of Antigone le Borgne between 317 and 311 BC. 306 BC and founded the Seleucid dynasty. He is the last survivor of Alexander's lieutenants. He was assassinated in 280 BC..
