Historical background

AUSTRIA - SALZBURG ARCHDIOCESE - JEROME Colloredo

(14/03/1773-11/02/1803)

Sigismund III died Dec. 16, 1771 after eighteen years of reign. The vacancy lasted from 16 December 1772 to 14 March 1773. Colloredo is best known for being the patron of Mozart (1756-1791) with whom he did not get along and finally broke with the prince-bishop in 1781. In 1803, his property was secularized.
