AUSTRIA - FERDINAND III

(1637-1657)

Ferdinand III (1608-1637) is the son of Ferdinand II and Marie Anne of Bavaria. He was born on July 13, 1608 in Graz and was crowned King of Hungary in 1625 and of Bohemia in 1627. He succeeded his father on February 15, 1637 and died on April 2, 1657. He ascended the throne in the midst of the Thirty Years' War . Peace was signed in 1648 with the Treaty of Westphalia and Austria came out of it diminished. His son Leopold I succeeds him.
