Obverse description : Tête casquée stylisée à droite, une mèche de cheveux dépassant du casque revient enroulée sur le cou.

Reverse description : Cheval libre galopant à droite ; au-dessus, une S inversée et un animal allongé à tête triangulaire ; entre les pattes, un sanglier enseigne à droite.
Commentary
Très proche de certaines monnaies lamellaires attribuées aux Ambiens, cet exemplaire correspond au DT. S2428A.
Si le sanglier enseigne entre les jambes du sanglier est typique, il est plus inhabituel d’avoir un autre sanglier (à l’envers) au droit ; cette particularité se retrouve sur bon nombre d’hémistatères des Aulerques.
Very close to certain lamellar coins attributed to the Ambiens, this example corresponds to DT. S2428A. If the boar ensign between the boar's legs is typical, it is more unusual to have another boar (upside down) on the obverse; this particularity is found on a good number of hemistateries of the Aulerci

GALLIA - AULERCI EBUROVICES (Area of Évreux)
(2nd - 1st century BC)
The Aulerci were subdivided into three tribes: Aulerci Diablintes, Aulerci Cenomani and Aulerci Éburovices. The territory of Aulerques Éburovices corresponds to the current department of Eure. They are quoted several times in Caesar's Commentaries. According to the latter, they would have massacred their Senate favorable to the Romans in 56 BC and would have joined the Unelles and the revolted Lexoviens. In 52 BC, they provided a contingent of three thousand men to the relief army. : Caesar (BG.(II, 34; III, 17, 29; VII, 4, 75; VIII, 7). Kruta: 72.
