Restoration coinage of Nerva
Nerva, founder of a new dynasty, restored the memory of Augustus through an important bronze coinage (sesterces, dupondii and asses) and an extremely rare silver coinage (denarius). By making this gesture, he placed himself directly as the successor of the Julio-Claudian dynasty and of its founder in particular, Augustus, when he himself was only born in 32 under the reign of Tiberius..
