Exemplaire sur un flan large et ovale, bien centré des deux côtés. Beau portrait à l’expression archaïsante contremarqué sur la joue. Jolie chouette au revers, légèrement stylisée de haut relief, bien venue à la frappe dans un carré creux à peine marqué. Recouvert d’une patine grise avec des reflets dorés

Obverse legend : ANÉPIGRAPHE.

Obverse description : Tête d'Athéna à droite, coiffée du casque attique à cimier, orné de trois feuilles d'olivier et d'une palmette avec collier et boucles d'oreilles.

Reverse

Reverse description : Chouette debout à droite, la tête de face ; derrière, une branche d'olivier et un croissant ; le tout dans les restes d'un carré creux.

Commentary

Le visage présente encore une expression archaïque. L’œil est traité en amande étiré et droit. La chevelure est tombante sur le cou et ramenée en arrière. Les feuilles d’olivier du casque sont normales. Au revers, la chouette est grande et élancée et les plumes descendent jusqu’aux serres de l’animal. Le carré creux est peu marqué. Petite contremarque en relief sur la joue d’Athéna. Ce type appartient au groupe III du classement de Flament (A/ III.1 - R/ III.c). Le revers est caractéristique avec une série de points au-dessus des pattes.
The face still has an archaic expression. The eye is treated as a stretched and straight almond. The hair falls on the neck and is pulled back. The olive leaves of the helmet are normal. On the reverse, the owl is large and slender and the feathers descend to the animal's talons. The hollow square is not very marked. Small raised countermark on Athena's cheek. This type belongs to group III of the Flament classification (A/ III.1 - R/ III.c). The reverse is characteristic with a series of points above the legs
