Commentary
This interesting coin is strangely close to the coins of the so-called “horned serpent” series, of which a dozen quarters are known; the provenances are said to be located in the Aisne and mainly the Somme. For this specific type, we would rather be dealing with an Anglo-Saxon coin struck by the Atrebates.
