Ce denier est frappé sur un flan irrégulier et est recouvert d’une patine verte. Surfaces granuleuses dues à une oxydation

Commentary

Cette monnaie est un faux d’époque en cuivre copiant les deniers avec KAP/PAS attribué à Chappes dans l’Aube, toutefois, la présence de ces deniers KAP/PAS dans le trésor de Nice Cimiez a incité Georges Depeyrot, p. 155, à les classer à la région de Marseille. Deux deniers auraient été trouvés dans un marais proche de la vallée de la Seine, probablement Chappes selon les auteurs du RTSENA 11, p. 116. Nous préférons rester prudent au sujet de l’attribution de ces deniers.
This coin is a contemporary copper forgery copying the deniers with KAP/PAS attributed to Chappes in the Aube, however, the presence of these KAP/PAS deniers in the Nice Cimiez treasure prompted Georges Depeyrot, p. 155, to classify them in the Marseille region. Two deniers were reportedly found in a marsh near the Seine Valley, probably Chappes according to the authors of RTSENA 11, p. 116. We prefer to remain cautious about the attribution of these deniers
