Commentary

With this type of head on the front and an interlacing on the reverse, this denier does not correspond to anything known. Although the obverse has nothing to do with it, the reverse of B. 6681 presents this same motif. This denier, with a radiate head on the left, had been reported by M. Florange; it is classified in the undetermined. P. Schiesser recently made known an obol from the same series which would have been struck with the same obverse die
