Mr Gailhouste indique dans son ouvrage : “La Nationale n'existe sous cette dénomination que depuis 1848. En effet, cette société fondée le 11 septembre 1816 sous le nom de Compagnie Royale d' Assurance, a dû changer de nom à la suite de l' avènement de la 2e République. L'histoire de cette société est donc liée à celle de la Royale. En 1968, la Nationale constitua avec l' Aigle et le Soleil, le groupe des Assurances Nationales.”.

INSURANCES

Under the Old Regime, insurance was above all maritime. In the 19th century, we witness the emergence of countless companies, often specialized in very specific sectors, which will allow the development of the economy by pooling risks..
