Commentary

L’axe à six heures, inusuel pour un octogonal, surtout en 1848, et l’absence de poinçon laissent présumer une frappe privée. La frappe en étain était pourtant une pratique courante de la Monnaie de Paris en 1848 !.
The six o'clock axis, unusual for an octagonal coin, especially in 1848, and the absence of a hallmark suggest a private mint. Tin minting was, however, a common practice at the Paris Mint in 1848!
