The War of Spanish Succession was particularly rich in numismatic history. Many besieged cities minted siege coins, such as Aire-sur-La-Lys which was besieged by the allies in 1710. The obsidional coins of Aire bear all the arms of Goesbriand, governor of the city during the siege.
