Reverse description : Armes royales, aux écus de France et de Navarre, accolés et couronnées, ornés des deux colliers des ordres du roi ; à la pointe des deux écus une L couronnée entre deux étoiles et deux étoiles autour de la couronne.

Historical background
ARDENNES - JETONS FACTORY IN SEDAN
(1614-1642)
A factory of banal tokens exists in Sedan from the years 1613-1614. It was entrusted to Daniel Goffin, a Protestant engraver based in Givonne near Sedan. The tokens produced are imitations of royal tokens and are made using mechanical tools with which the Principality of Sedan is equipped. A five-pointed star is found as a different on many of these tokens. This workshop probably closed with the abandonment of the principality to France in 1642. Note, a study by Jules Rouyer on a French-looking token factory in Sedan at the time of Louis XIII, Revue numismatique, 1887.
