Ce denier est frappé sur un flan large et irrégulier. D’infimes trous traversant résultant d’une ancienne oxydation. De petites taches vertes, sinon exemplaire recouvert d’une patine grise

Commentary


Ce rare denier est parfois donné à Sanche Guillaume, mais également à Bernard Guillaume (984-1010). Une datation aussi ancienne repose sur la reprise du motif du droit qui s’inspirerait du monogramme odonique. Il pourrait toutefois s’agir d’un type plus tardif.

The Duchy of Aquitaine was created by Charles the Bald in 845 after the dismemberment of the Kingdom of Aquitaine by Pepin II of Aquitaine. William IV the Fat seized the Duchy of Guyenne in 1029 from Sanche Guillaume.
