Ce denier est frappé sur un flan large et présente des reliefs nets. Une jolie patine grise de collection le recouvre. La croix du droit apparaît légèrement en négatif au niveau du monogramme du revers

Commentary

Ce rare denier est parfois donné à Sanche Guillaume, mais également à Bernard Guillaume (984-1010). Une datation aussi ancienne repose sur la reprise du motif du droit qui s’inspirerait du monogramme odonique. Il pourrait toutefois s’agir d’un type plus tardif.
This rare denarius is sometimes attributed to Sancho William, but also to Bernard William (984-1010). Such an early dating is based on the resumption of the motif on the obverse, which is said to be inspired by the Odonic monogram. However, it could be a later type.
