In 91 BC, Lucius Marcius Philippus and Sextus Julius Cæsar were consuls. The tribune, Marcus Livius Drusus proposes to reform the electoral law in favor of the allies (status of citizenship). The assassination of Drusus provokes a brutal reaction which involves the massacre of Romans in Asculum and ignites the Italian allies, it is the beginning of the Social war (91-88 before J. - C.).
