Historical background



Anne of Austria, the daughter of Philip III of Spain and Margaret of Austria. She was born September 22, 1601. Betrothed to Louis XIII in 1612, she married in 1615. She cleared a life of her husband so much that Alexander Dumas lent him an affair with the Duke of Buckingham, favorite and premier Jacques I, and Charles I of England, during the visit of Minister role to negotiate the marriage of Charles with Henrietta Maria of France. War broke out with Spain in 1635 and is charged with maintaining a correspondence with his brother and educate opponents of France in 1637. Pregnant after 23 years of marriage, she gave birth to 37 years, on September 5, a boy, Louis, the future Louis XIV. She even gave birth to Philip in 1640. On the death of Louis XIII, May 14, 1643, she became regent after breaking the will of her husband. It will govern the new prime minister, Jules Cardinal Mazarin.
