Commentary
Mathieu Renou est seigneur de la Feauté et maire de 1685 à 1689. Il porte d’or au pin de sinople fruité d’or sur un tertre de même. De son mairat, date la fondation de l’Académie royale des Belles-Lettres d’Angers pour laquelle il fit installer un pavillon au fond du jardin de l’Hôtel de ville.

From his mayorship dates the founding of the Royal Academy of Belles-Lettres of Angers for which he had a pavilion installed at the bottom of the garden of the Town Hall
