Commentary
While this reverse is fairly classic, the style of the head does not correspond to that traditionally associated with it. Oxford coins no. 190-193 have this reverse but with an obverse called “plumed bird”. However, it is more likely a hirsute head with a marked triangular eye (cf. the LA TOUR bronzes 6117 and 6132). According to classification, this would be a hybrid with a “later procupines” obverse, a reverse of the E series variety G1-4 (cf. Metcalf p. 217)
