Denier frappé sur un flan large, avec un droit issu d’un coin usé ou bouché, mais d’un coin de revers neuf, avec une frappe vigoureuse. Patine grise, un peu hétérogène, comme cristallisée et légèrement granuleuse

Commentary
Ce type 85 de la série J est beaucoup plus stylisé que les monnaies de la série B. Les coins ne portent plus de légende et les types se sont élargis. Bien que sur flan large, ce type est anépigraphe, avec un grènetis des deux côtés, mais aucune légende autour.
Certains exemplaires, comme celui-ci, ont un double grènetis au droit (et/ou au revers).

ENGLAND - ANGLO-SAXONS
(7th - 8th centuries)
If the minting of these coins is to be located at the beginning of the 8th century, in Great Britain, it is not exceptional to find them in Gaul. They are often confused with Merovingian silver coins (cf. MONNAIES XIX, n° 503, sceattas c. 680-710, classified in Merovingian denier of Laon). During the 8th century, the style of these pieces is more and more degenerated, they are often in ridge or filled. These coins disappeared from circulation in the second half of the 8th century.
