Denier sur un flan large, avec une frappe molle au droit mais bien vigoureuse au revers. Patine grise, un peu croûteuse au revers

Ce type avec le buste diadémé avec une petite croisette devant le visage est associé à ce revers au carré perlé, mais aussi au revers à l’oiseau posé sur un croix.

(7th - 8th centuries)
If the minting of these coins is to be located at the beginning of the 8th century, in Great Britain, it is not exceptional to find them in Gaul. They are often confused with Merovingian silver coins (cf. MONNAIES XIX, n° 503, sceattas c. 680-710, classified in Merovingian denier of Laon). During the 8th century, the style of these pieces is more and more degenerated, they are often in ridge or filled. These coins disappeared from circulation in the second half of the 8th century.
