William II (1650-1702) was stadtholder of the United Provinces from July 9, 1672. He also became king of England and Ireland (under the name of William III) and king of Scotland (under the name of William II) from February 13, 1689 until his death. In 1677, he married Mary of England, eldest daughter of Jacques Stuart, future Jacques II King of England from 1685 to 1688.
