Coments on the condition:
Flan relativement large et régulier pour ce type souvent fruste. Frappe faible mais avers et revers bien identifiables. Patine grise et granuleuse, cristallisée

Commentary


Cet exemplaire avec la tête de face est très intéressant ; il se rapproche du DT. S3453B pour le droit, mais avec un sanglier à gauche au revers ! Ce type précis semble manquer à l’Essai d’interprétation de André Jeuffrain qui étudia les monnaies dites de la Chaloire en 1846.

(2nd - 1st century BC)

The Andécaves or Andes, whose territory extended north of the Loire on the banks of the Mayenne, occupied Anjou, which today corresponds to the departments of Maine-et-Loire and Sarthe. Their name is found in the city of Angers, the ancient Juliomagus. They are cited by Caesar in the Gallic Wars. Caesar (BG. II, 35; III, 7, VII, 4; VIII, 26). Ptolemy (G. II, 8); Pliny (HN. IV, 107). Kruta: 69, 366.
